What is an Electronic Shelf Label (ESL)?
An Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) is a wireless E-Paper digital price tag attached to retail shelf rails. It replaces traditional paper price stickers and updates product prices, discounts, and barcodes automatically from your billing POS.
How do ESL tags update prices wirelessly?
Our tags connect to a central 2.4GHz wireless gateway installed in your store. When a price is updated in your POS software (e.g. Tally, Marg ERP, or CSV upload), the gateway broadcasts the update to target tags wirelessly in seconds.
How long do the batteries last and how are they replaced?
QuickShelf tags consume power only when the display refreshes. Depending on display size and daily update frequency, batteries last between 5 to 10 years. They use standard CR2450 or CR2477 coin cell batteries that can be easily replaced by store helpers.
Can ESL tags operate inside supermarket freezers?
Yes. We offer dedicated sub-zero low-temperature tags engineered specifically for ice cream cases, frozen food displays, and refrigerated counters operating down to -20°C.
POS Integration & Billing
Do I need to change my current billing software?
No! QuickShelf is designed to work with your existing setup. We support automated CSV/Excel rate imports and open REST webhooks, with pre-built adapters currently in active beta testing for Tally Prime and Marg ERP, and roadmap connections planned for Vyapar, myBillBook, and Zoho.
What happens if the internet connection goes down in my store?
Your ESL tags continue displaying the latest synchronized price uninterrupted! E-Paper displays require zero electrical power to maintain an image. Price sync resumes automatically as soon as connectivity is restored.
How long does initial installation take?
For standard stores, physical setup takes less than an hour. Gateway units plug into standard power sockets, mounting rails snap onto shelf edges, and tags pair automatically with your item list.

Accepted retail partner stores receive 100% free access to the QuickShelf cloud management portal and ESL sync engine for 6 months, free store onboarding, and priority hardware pilot allocation.
How much does ESL hardware cost?
Hardware tags start from ₹649–₹699 per 2.13" tag for pilot deployments (minimum 100 tags), with gateways at ₹18,000 and universal rails at ₹149/meter. Monthly pilot leasing is also available from ~₹28 per tag per month.
